But they are designed to work together, and as has been explained,
splitting them up is far from a trivial task, and would almost certainly
introduce all kinds of stability and performance issues.

Regardless, I don't see much benefit in continuing to talk about it
now... the next step is make a formal enhancement request and see what
the developers say as to complexity and/or likelihood of it ever happening.
