Maybe I am too traditionalist, but I really don't like the idea. Typically,
if I want to control tabs, I also want to see the ruler, hence seeing the
little arrows in the ruler is fine with me. On the other hand, when I remove
the ruler, it usually is because I want to see the final result -- or close
to it. In such situations, I really don't want to see "tab codes",
unbreakable spaces, paragraph marks and other non-printable characters in my
text.
