There is some discussion going on at the Apache OOo mail list
regarding the place to host extensions
It seems that the current hosting of extensions is facing some
problems, and it will be great if we find a new (and common) home for
the extensions, in a way that both Apache OOo and LibreOffice could
use as a shared extensions repository.
We could also do the same to host templates.
Any thoughts about that ?
I gather the LibreOffice extensions & templates service is nearly ready to switch on. With approval
from the Steering Committee, it's feasible that AOOo could redirect the URL that OO.o currently
uses and make it point at this new service for as long as they need to, in order to maintain
continuity for users.
Long-term, it's important to recognise that the LibreOffice service will only host extensions under
open source licenses - nothing to stop someone else creating a downstream superset though.
