Apparently I didn't include this list back then.. I'll just
copy'n'paste my message since I'm too lazy to retype :-)
But I should have pasted the whole message :-)

maybe I'm a bit stupid here, but how do I add this to my gmail sidebar?
You need to enable the"Add any gadget by URL" lab-feature. To do so,
click the green beaker (Erlenmeyerkolben/-flask) icon at the very top,
left to the settings link.
enable the "Add any gadget by URL" feature (if you didn't check it
out, also look at the "Multiple Inboxes" one that I find very useful)
Having it enabled, you'll have a "Gadgets" Category/Link in your
Settings. in the "Add a gadget by its URL" box, paste
http://pumbaa.documentfoundation.org:7780/mod/gmailwidget and click
add. It then should appear below the other widgets on the left.
Sorry for not including those instructions in the first post.
ciao
Christian
