IIRC, phpbb has a security hole now and then. That would make it higher
maintenance in the long run.

phpbb as well works with mysql as well. and has quite strong security
measures which is another plus when it comes to moderation and antispam
measures.
I talked to Florian yesterday a bit via private email and he hinted hes
familiar with phpbb. Why go with something that someone isnt familiar with?
