I know this isn't an easy job but maybe the foundation and/or OASIS 
should think about supporting and announcing an official supported 
package.

This will have nearly no effect because they are orphaned. That is the 
point.
And a new fork won't help here. A fork is only a good choice if it would 
result in an official supported project. That is my point.
