asking permission to use name / logo

Hello board,

As some of you have may heard, I am planning the start of a libreoffice-trainingcenter in my town Arnhem (Netherlands). Of course as part of the activities of my company Nou&Off.

I think it's appropriate to ask the board permission for one and another. Some info:

1. The url I would like to use is " libreoffice-trainingcenter.nl "
Maybe for some limited time (two years or so).
A clear link to the important position of LibreOffice

2. Of course when people want they can enhance their skills for OpenOffice too. So that will be mentioned somewhere.

3. I would be lovely to use the document-part of the logo somewhere in a logo/picture in the heading of the website.

4. Further I think it's great to have the full logo, without TDF line, placed at the footer of the site somehere,

5. Enclosed you find a document with three possibilities for a 'logo' at the header of the website of the trainingcenter.
A is the one that a designer drafted after my initial info.
   B is extended mentioning OO
   C is a different approach.

Would like opinions & permission for at least the url (1), the logo (4) and I guess and maybe also for the document part of the logo(3) ?

If there's need for any further info or such, pls let me know.
Thanks for your time & kind regards,

Cor

Hi Cor,

this is great news - the best of luck & good business with that new
endeavour!

1. The url I would like to use is " libreoffice-trainingcenter.nl "

Sounds good to me.

3. I would be lovely to use the document-part of the logo somewhere

4. Further I think it's great to have the full logo, without TDF

A is the one that a designer drafted after my initial info.
  B is extended mentioning OO
  C is a different approach.

For a number of reasons, I like the A proposal best. For item 4, it is
expressly permitted to use the community logo when providing services
around LibreOffice.

Just from a design perspective, the paper clip could use a bit more
spacing; IIRC the recommendation was to have ~half the logo width as
space between it and surrounding text or graphical elements.

Would like opinions & permission for at least the url (1), the logo
(4) and I guess and maybe also for the document part of the logo(3)
?

I would be supportive of that request.

Cheers,

-- Thorsten

For Info:
In the attached document, C looks bad on mac with lo4.0... the Text
LibreOffice -.... has blank zone around it that 'erase the underlying
'Door Nou&Off'

in B the color of 'en OpenOffice' is not quite the same than the one
of 'Trainincenter.... and the fact that the later is a bitmap and the
former a text also shows in the sharpness of the edges of the
letter...

A looks ok, modulo the grainy font edge due, I suspect to the logo
being a png and not a svg....

Norbert

Hi Thorsten, *,

Thanks for your response.

Will do benefit to all, is my idea

I tend to B. It makes it easier visible that people using OpenOffice can enhance their skills there too and some more considerations

It's in a draft stage. Will use your comments

Thans you for that.
Can this mail-exchange be the start for the board to handle it in a meeting?

Cheers,
Cor

Thanks you for the remarks Norbert. You're fully right. I should have explained more clearly that it's a rough draft

Hi Cor,

since it seems there was no further issue, sure, go ahead. Would it
make sense to have a near-final version of the logo ready then?

Cheers,

OK: I hereby ask the board to handle my request, when possible in the next meeting, i.e. ASAP.

I think it would make it easier. But I'm rather unsure looking at all there is ... (to do, fo course  ) if that will be the case.

So pls go ahead with the idea B send with my first mail. If that is not OK in some detail, I'll be pleased to try to adapt.

Cheers,
Cor

sorry that this somehow got lost during the stress before the conference... :frowning: I saw some discussions occured between you and Thorsten about logos and variants, so may I ask you to phrase your request again with the respective logo attached, so we can vote on that?

Sorry for the delay and that this somehow got off the radar,
Florian

1. Attached a file with some _draft_ pictures. One of those is to be placed in the header of the website.
I ask persmission to use B.
It might be that I switch to A later, or that the board does not give permission for B.

2. As url I would like to use " libreoffice-trainingcenter.nl "

3. I would like to place the full logo, without TDF line, at the footer of the site somehere.

Alas some delay here too, so we may cross the line at the same time hopefully

Hello Cor,

good news! The board has voted during its last call on this, and we agreed to give you a time-limited (one year, but can be renewed if the new board agrees, of course) trademark license for that.

I will send it to you early next week for approving and signing.
