[tdf-test] Re: Digest of test@documentfoundation.org issue 58 (247-271)

The previous guidance to use the command '[mailing list
name]+get-[mailing list message number] is good for digest mode
messages of small quantities of messages. However, the failure to add
the message number to each message is not good. For example, the
appearance of a recent 'discuss' digest-mode message is as follows:

Topics (messages 7328 through 7339):

Hello,

In this example it would be easy to understand that the first message
corresponds to message '7328'. However, this is weak when digest-mode
messages contain many messages. For example, a recent digest-mode
message for R shows the following initial contents:

Notice how each message in the digest-mode starts with the message number:

------------------------------

Message: 30
Date: Fri, 22 Jul 2011 08:55:54 -0700
From: Peter Ehlers <ehlers@ucalgary.ca>
To: Bert Gunter <gunter.berton@gene.com>
Cc: "r-help@r-project.org" <r-help@r-project.org>, marcel
<marcelcurlin@gmail.com>
Subject: Re: [R] Lattice: place ticks only on y-axis
Message-ID: <4E299D8A.9010508@ucalgary.ca>
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed
...

Now if I wanted to retrieve message 30 is the LO mailing list manager,
without the message number shown before each message, I would have to
count manually where I think each message begins and ends, in order to
retrieve the correct message, so I can reply and avoid breaking the
message thread.

If possible, please add the message number as the first line of each
message in digest-mode.
